Too often, you find yourself in situations where your expertise is underutilized, your role is misunderstood, or your voice is unheard.
You wind up questioning your own decision making and struggle to effectively collaborate with your team.
You put your head down and plow forward, but can't help but be frustrated by:
- Inappropriate Referrals: You're called in for issues that don't require your support
- Endless Meetings: Your time is used up by meetings where you hardly say a word, and contributions you do make aren't fully appreciated
- Missed Opportunities: Students who need school-based OT to help them succeed miss out because your role isn't clearly understood
Can you relate?
You've tried to explain your role. You've talked to your team about appropriate referrals. You've expressed that your caseload is too high and that your time needs to be better utilized.
If you've felt frustrated by these challenges, you're not alone - and it's time to stop navigating them alone.

I'm Jennifer Huff.
I've experienced all the frustrations that come with being a school-based occupational therapist.
Though we have significant training in the medical model, in the school setting we need to comfortably and confidently operate under the educational model.
My confidence as a school-based OT didn't come overnight. I have navigated through challenges, poured through research, and put the work in - I want my hard work to save you some time!
It's my hope that the resources I provide equip and empower you, allowing you to thrive in your role as a school-based practitioner.
